We are carrying out a hazard reduction burn today at Alexandra Circuit Bushland Refuge, Alexandra Hills.
Although there are ideal conditions for a burn today, the cooler weather and cloud cover is keeping the smoke down, resulting in reports of smoke coming from surrounding suburbs.
Residents can be assured that the burn is under control and will be completed by this afternoon.
Below is a map of the area where the controlled burn is taking place.
Planned burns are necessary to reduce the volume of forest litter fuel to assist with hazard reduction and provide conditions essential for native plant species regeneration..
