Redland Art Gallery, Capalaba will host a ‘gallery-grown’ exhibition of local children’s artworks from Tuesday 11 June – Wednesday 14 August 2013.
Cartoon Connection: Art by Kids 4 Kids showcases comics created by children at the Redland Art Gallery during recent school holiday workshops.
Under the guidance of professional artists, local children took part in Kids’ APT7 on Tour, a program of activities developed by contemporary Australian, Asian and Pacific artists in conjunction with The 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT7) at Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane.
Redland City Council spokesperson for Arts, Culture and Innovation Cr Paul Bishop said the exhibition connected local children to their creativity and how art can communicate their thoughts and dreams.
“It was wonderful to see families and children visiting Redland Art Gallery, taking part in the Kids’ APT7 on Tour cartoon workshops and having a great time last school holidays,” Cr Bishop said.
“The artwork from those workshops will now be proudly displayed at our Capalaba Gallery, allowing local kids to share their stories with the community in a new way with the new art styles and techniques they have learned.”
Redland Art Gallery, Capalaba will also host a free morning tea 11am Wednesday 26 June 2013 for families to view Cartoon Connection, take part in exhibition drop-in activities and enjoy some refreshments.
