Energex has advised that as part of its ongoing repairs and network upgrades following the bushfires on North Stradbroke Island a number of crews will be operating in the area over the coming week.
On Sunday, Energex crews will commence a week worth of pole replacements and upgrades to the fire-damaged sub-transmission powerline which runs from the southern end of North Stradbroke to the island’s main substation at Mining Company Road at Dunwich. During this period power on the island will be provided by either the backup 33,000 volt powerline and for a period mobile generators.
A short power interruption will be required (likely to run around 30 minutes) in the window between 10am and 12 noon on Thursday, January 16, when Energex technicians transfer power from generators to mains power supply. Energex understands the inconvenience of another power interruption after the recent bushfires, but the repairs are necessary and the improved network will enhance future reliability.
