Now there’s a legal way to rummage through someone else’s suitcase!
Redland Performing Arts Centre will host the inaugural Redlands Suitcase Rummage Sale on its outdoor plaza on Saturday 27 September from 11am – 4pm.
The event is being run in conjunction with Suitcase Rummage (Eventbrite), who run similar events around Australia.
Redland City Council Community and Cultural Spokesperson Cr Lance Hewlett said people can still register to sell suitcases of goods.
“The Suitcase Rummage is a chance for people to sell bits and pieces without having to organise a full market stall,” Cr Hewlett said.
“It’s amazing what treasures can be bought and sold from a suitcase and we’re hoping for a great variety including clothing, bric-a-brac, jewelry, recycled wares and craft.
“It should be a quick way for people to make some extra money and we are looking forward to seeing everyone’s creativity coming out.”
Cr Hewlett said there would be a series of suitcase rummage sales, including one just before Christmas.
“The first event on Saturday 27 September will be followed by one on 13 December 2014 and a third market in March next year.
“Entry to the markets will be free, so it would be great to see people getting out, supporting these pop-up events and scoring some suitcase bargains.”
To be part of the sale, people need to register their suitcase through www.suitcaserummage.eventbrite.com.au
A suitcase market spot (up to three suitcases per spot) costs $25.00 plus a $2.49 handling fee, payable online to Suitcase Rummage (Eventbrite).
