A story that appeared in the Redland City Bulletin Wednesday 29 October entitled “Redland Council called to take further action after $15k failed bat colony bid” incorrectly stated that Redland City Council had elected to not apply to the Federal Government for a permit to carry out works on a bat colony at Lawn Terrace Capalaba in response to residents concerns. The presence of Grey-Headed Flying Foxes in the colony meant the Federal Government must provide approval before any works commence and as such Council sought approval from the Federal Government, including applying for a permit. In response the Federal Government advised that a permit was not needed provided Council carried out the works in accordance with the submitted species management plan.
