The inaugural Quandamooka Festival kicks off in July, offering an exciting opportunity for the Redlands to have a truly iconic event which raises the City’s status as a festival and arts destination.
The brainchild of the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation, the three-month festival will boast a city-wide program of traditional cultural activities, dance, music, film, exhibitions, sports and other activities celebrating the culture of Quandamooka.
Redlands Creative Arts Centres manager Zane Trow has described it as the best idea he has heard for 20 years.
“What excites me about the Quandamooka Festival is that it unique to us … a unique brand as well as a unique culture,’’ he says.
The festival has potential to boost international tourism as well as draw daytrippers into the City, so stay tuned for the program release.
