Redland City Council will be undertaking dredging on Weinam Creek, Redland Bay as part of their regular maintenance schedule.
Divisional Councillor Mark Edwards said the eight week dredge was expected to start Monday 1 June, and would provide safer more reliable access to the bay.
“This work is part of Council’s commitment to providing ongoing safe, reliable access to Moreton Bay,” he said.
“As a city of islands the Redlands depends on marine transport and we also have plenty of recreational boaties, so projects such as this are vital to ensuring we can continue to enjoy the beauty of the bay.
“The project will involve two dredge vessels operating in Weinam Creek, with work expected to be completed early August weather permitting.
“There may be some minor disruptions during this important work, including ferries being required to reduce speed and use the full length of the channel to avoid silting it up.
“A work site has been established at the marina and residents are asked to be patient and follow the directions of Council officers and the Notice to Mariners to ensure everyone remains safe.”
