Redland City Council has renewed warnings about the dangers of stonefish after reports of more encounters at popular City swimming and wading spots this week.
Signs warning beachgoers of the dangers have been erected along foreshores across the Redlands, including the mainland, North Stradbroke Island, Coochiemudlo Island and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. They will remain in place until further notice.
Beachgoers are urged to wear thick-soled shoes if wading in coastal waters this weekend. The sting from a stonefish is very painful and victims should seek immediate medical attention.
