The drought has closed in on South East Queensland with eight local government areas, including Redland City Council, being drought-declared by the Queensland Government, effective from 1 December 2019.
Drought declarations are based on a number of factors including significant lack of rain, depleted pasture reserves and escalating concerns about agricultural water supply.
Primary producers in drought-declared areas may be eligible to receive drought assistance from the Queensland Government, Australian Government or another provider.
