Redland City Council’s first Redlands Coast Sports Gala day has proven to be a great success despite a two-week wet weather postponement.
More than 200 people attended the late-February event at the Norm Price Park – Redland Showgrounds, giving many primary-school aged children the chance to try a variety of sports including Rugby League, cricket, Rugby Union, netball, AFL, golf, hockey, softball, BMX, Tae Kwon Do, tennis, skipping and gymnastics.

Local Redlands Coast sport and recreation clubs were on hand to host fun activities and sign-up new players.
There was also time to catch up with some sporting heroes – including Matt Hodgson and Jeremy Kendall from the Brisbane Bullets, Josie Dooley from Queensland Fire, trampolinist Charlotte Johnstone and touch footballers Corey Russell & Adam Pryde.

All were involved in a signing and photo session and netball royalty Jemma Mi Mi & Ine-Mari Venter, from the Queensland Firebirds, showed their commitment to youth development by assisting with the netball activity.

All participants received a free hat, sunscreen and a water bottle in a Council giveaway pack.
