Now is the time to have your say on the draft Toondah Harbour Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), released on 12 October by the Federal Government.
The draft statement considers the project’s social, economic, and environmental impacts.
In October 2019, Walker Group, who is delivering Toondah Harbour, engaged a panel of independent experts in the fields of marine ecology, water quality, wetland ecology and Ramsar sites to compile the draft statement.
The consultation period for submissions runs for 40 business days, closing on Tuesday 6 December.
Information on how to make a submission and to access or download the full draft EIS is available on the Virtual Information Centre on Walker Group’s Toondah Harbour website toondah.com.au
Community members can also view hard copies of the draft EIS in Council’s Cleveland, Capalaba, and Victoria Point libraries.
Following the community consultation, Walker Group will respond to, review and consider all submissions.
Walker Group will then submit the draft EIS to the Federal Government, which will commence a 40-business-day assessment period upon accepting the statement.
The Federal Minister for the Environment and Water will then determine whether to approve, approve with conditions, or not approve the project.
If approved, Walker Group will seek Queensland Government environment and development approvals to begin construction.
