Redland City Council is now accepting grant applications through round one of the 2023-24 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
Mayor Karen Williams said the RADF program aimed to support both professional and emerging artists and arts workers on Redlands Coast.
“We know we have a thriving arts community and these grants help to strengthen that vital arts and cultural sector,” Cr Williams said.
“The grants support activities that activate our places and spaces, share our local stories and celebrate our local storytellers, in whatever creative medium they choose.
“Previous RADF recipients have received funding towards a wide range of activities including an Island Storytellers Festival, publication of a children’s picture book, a professional recording experience for an orchestra, a mural, and a project using multimedia techniques to share stories of local Elders.
“I’m very excited to see what projects our artistic community will come up with this year.”
Grants up to $10,000 are available for projects and initiatives by individual artists, groups and organisations.
Assessment panel chair Cr Paul Bishop (Division 10) encouraged applications that creatively explored the theme of accessibility, sustainability and connection to place.
“We are looking for arts and cultural activities that encourage creative collaboration and skills development, partnerships and cultural innovation,” Cr Bishop said.
“We are also seeking applications that artfully explore aspects of our heritage, including First Nations people and our association with places within Redlands Coast on Quandamooka Country.
“The projects should provide public value and foster an engaged and strengthened community.”
Grants are available in nine categories: community arts and cultural development, multi-arts, music, theater, writing, dance, developing regional skills, heritage, and visual arts, craft and design.
Round one applications close at midnight on 1 November. A second round of RADF grants will open in February 2024.
More information, including how to apply, is available on the RADF page on Council’s website.
RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Redland City Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
