Redlands Coast will be event central in April as the city hosts a blues music festival and youth-focused cultural day out to kick-start the Easter holiday period.
A range of free and ticketed activities will also be offered at key Council venues throughout the month, rounding out a jam-packed schedule.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said welcoming a wide range of events to the city helped support the local arts and cultural sectors and provided a boost to tourism and the local economy.
“We are excited to be welcoming back the Redlands Coast Blues Festival to the Redland Showgrounds this year,” the Mayor said.
“The event has received funding support of more than $16,500 through Council’s Sponsorship program and will feature an exciting and diverse line-up of artists.
“Other attractions at the festival, to be held on Saturday 5 April, include food stalls and activities for kids.
“We know our community loves being able to watch live music close to home and we expect a big crowd from outside the city to attend as well.
“The festival will provide another valuable injection into our local economy while also helping to lift our city’s status as an event destination of choice.”
The Mayor said the SkatePUNK Youth Festival being held at Capalaba Skate Park, Banfield Lane on Monday 14 April also promised to be an entertaining day out.
“Redlands Coast hosted this event at the same venue last year and it was a big hit with our young people,” the Mayor said.
“This year’s installment will feature six hours of live music, mini creative markets, skate demonstrations, and free food and drink.
“Council has provided funding for the event through the Activate Youth Week Grant program and the PASSAGE Artist Development Program to help make it bigger and better this year.
“Importantly for our local families, the event remains free to attend.”

Council venues such as Libraries, the Redland Performing Arts Centre, Redland Arts Gallery and IndigiScapes also have an exciting event and activities program lined-up for April.
“This will include school holiday activities, Author Talk sessions, jewellery-making workshops for adults, art exhibitions, and the popular Eco Market at IndigiScapes,” the Mayor said.
“Redland Performing Arts Centre is also set to come alive with a magic and illusion show and free PASSAGE Skills Lab workshop.
“With Queensland Youth Week being held from 6 to 12 April, many local groups will also be offering events and activities for our young people during the school holidays.
“If you’re stuck for ideas on things to do, please drop into Council’s new Visitor Information Centre at 50 Middle Street, Cleveland and our team will offer some suggestions.”
