Here is your chance to have a say on a proposed community and youth centre to be built on Macleay Island.
Redland City Council plans to build a community and youth centre at 32-40 High Central Road on Macleay Island to service the Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI).
Mayor Jos Mitchell said Council was inviting Redlands Coast residents to have an input on what services, programs and activities could be offered at the centre to be built on land behind the Macleay Island Community Hall.
“This new facility is aimed at increasing social, recreational, educational and wellbeing opportunities for island residents,” the Mayor said.
“Council is developing a draft concept design for the proposed Southern Moreton Bay Islands Community and Youth Centre building.
“It is proposed there will be a youth focus along with a meeting and activity space for all.”
The timing of the construction works would be dependent on funding opportunities and Council’s budget prioritisation process.
Division 5 Councillor Shane Rendalls said the public can offer suggestions for the proposed community and youth centre via a survey on Council’s Your Say website at yoursay.redland.qld.gov.au
The survey will be open until Tuesday 8 October 2024.
“Council will also have a stall at the Lions Community Market on Macleay Island on Saturday 5 October 2024, from 8am to 12pm,” Cr Rendalls said.
