Applications are now open for Redland City Council’s Village Events and Activation Grant (VEAG) program.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said the grants aimed to support community organisations and village traders in promoting their local village centres and making them more vibrant.
“This program is all about celebrating our villages and investing in local business,” the Mayor said.
“It supports community organisations and village traders to work together to deliver initiatives that bring people together, build community connection and resilience and stimulate economic activity in our centres.
“This could include a wide range of events and activities such as live entertainment and movie events, youth activities, specialty food and boutique markets, decorative lighting and temporary street furniture.
“Council wants to support activities that encourage visitors and residents to experience what Redlands Coast has to offer.
“The VEAG grant program helps to make that happen, with previously-funded activities as diverse as community Christmas events, a Diwali (Festival of Lights) event, open-air movie nights, a trivia night, a literary-based art challenge weekend, and a seniors inter-island soccer game.”
Grants up to $12,000 are available for initiatives across Redlands Coast.
Grant applications close on 9 March 2025 and successful applicants have until 31 December 2025 to deliver their event or activity.
