Redland City Council is urging the community to be patient as the city’s sandbagging stations experience high demand.
Council has been working throughout this morning (Tuesday 4 March) to replenish bag and sand supplies at each site.
Across yesterday, 9200 bags were distributed to the mainland stations at Redland Bay and Capalaba, adding to the more than 7000 distributed over the weekend.
Council is also expecting a large shipment of sandbags from interstate this afternoon which will be distributed to all sites across the city.
If you arrive at a station and notice there is limited bag or sand availability, please call Council on 3829 8999 to assist with having these replenished as soon as possible.
Any sandbags residents may have stored away from a previous weather event should be reused if they are in good condition.
The community is reminded that there is a limit of 10 sandbags per vehicle, per trip and enclosed shoes must be worn at all times. Bring your own shovel.
Motorists are urged to follow traffic directions, wait their turn in the queue, be kind to staff, and ensure they are not blocking any roads in and out of the venue.
Additional crews and Queensland Police are being deployed today to these locations to assist with traffic management.
