Redlands Coast residents are urged to keep away from flooded creeks, waterways and storm drains.
There have been reports across the city of children and teenagers playing and diving in these dangerous, potentially life-threatening locations.
We stress: Do not play in floodwaters.
Not only will the water be fast-flowing and present a drowning risk, but it will be difficult to gauge the depth of the water.
Floodwaters contain runoff from roads, fields, drains and potentially, sewage overflows. It can be filled with toxic chemicals such as gasoline or oil, pet and human waste and other contamination (pesticides, industrial chemicals and more), that has collected in stormwater drains.
Redlands Coast residents are urged for their own safety to keep an eye out for hazards, drive to the conditions and, remember, if it’s flooded, forget it.
