Redland City Mayor Karen Williams is encouraging business and investors to attend a special breakfast this month that aims to kick start new investment in the city.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jeff Seeney will be special guest speaker at the major business breakfast in Cleveland on Thursday, 16 May. He is attending on the personal invitation of Cr Williams and will outline the State Government’s economic development policy and Redland City’s potential role in helping generate growth.
“This is an important period in our city’s history and I am delighted so many of our business community will be joining the Deputy Premier and me on 16 May, to learn more about future development plans and business and investment opportunities for our wonderful city,” Cr Williams said.
“Council has shown its commitment over the past year to ensuring the Redlands is open for business and to future economic development and job creation for our city.
“The Deputy Premier’s visit is a clear compliment in support of those efforts and Council’s calls for State Government and private sector partnerships to help encourage future city growth.
“Council support for economic growth and business implemented over the past 12 months includes the $1.5 million Cleveland CBD Incentives Package to re-invigorate the Cleveland city centre; streamlined and accelerated development assessment processes across the city and discounted fees for electronic lodgement of development applications.
“A key underpinning of our plans for business and employment growth has been our own commitment to maintaining lower rates increases in line with CPI.
“We have also reduced red tape, and improved services and efficiencies within Council that has driven operational savings of over $5 million in the past year.
“These savings and efficiencies will ultimately be passed on through the services and infrastructure Council delivers to business and the community.
